Letter from the President/CEO 6/1/2021

I hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend even though it was cool and rainy! Not much has changed from last week with regard to pandemic restrictions and thankfully, Reno County continues to see very light activity with cases and hospitalizations. We anticipate new rules and guidance from the multitude of regulatory agencies as the percentage of vaccinated people increases and we will keep you apprised of changes as we receive them. A holdover from previous rules is the KDADS restriction on being able to eat with a resident during a visit. CMS followed the CDC guidance in loosening that restriction, but KDADS left in in their updated regulations. Recall that we have to work with whichever regulation is the strictest. I will advocate that KDADS follow the CMS lead on this as I truly feel leaving this clause in place was an oversight and not intentional. Dealing with the pandemic did prove to all of us that if we are diligent in distancing from others and using good hand hygiene when in public, the incidence of colds and flu are significantly reduced. Please continue to practice good infection control methods when you are out and about so that you don’t inadvertently bring an illness to your resident. Thank you!

"We have had nothing but excellent treatment since moving into our duplex. We feel comfortable and safe and it is comforting knowing there are people here to help mom if she needs anything. "
