Letter from the President/CEO 3/23/2021

We remain optimistic that newly released visitation guidance will remain in place. The COVID numbers in Reno and surrounding counties continue to trend in the right direction. We do encourage you to visit because we never know when things will change, and likely with little notice. A positive case on campus or a surge in county cases could restrict visitation again. I try to stay away from all the COVID hype in the media, but recent stories from overseas indicate new surges of the virus and mutations are causing closures again in Europe and elsewhere. In the US, several states are reporting increasing rates of infection and new travel warnings have been issued recently. I note this only to emphasize that the pandemic is not over and to please take advantage of current rules regarding access to senior communities because again, these rules may indeed prove perishable.

With regret, I need to provide you with an update unrelated to COVID statistics. Gretchen Sapp, our VP of Health Services/Administrator, has accepted an opportunity and will be leaving us in April. Gretchen has done tremendous work at WT including the modernization of our electronic medical record and other systems, and of course, working tirelessly to lead our team in keeping the virus away from our residents and employees. Most recently, she helped Wesley Towers to achieve an excellent state regulatory survey. Gretchen will indeed be missed! We are busy seeking her successor and will provide updates when more information becomes available.

Please continue to stay safe and use good practices when in public. Thank you!
