This week brought us more COVID-19 cases in the county including more clusters and sadly, more deaths. These are grim reminders that despite our optimism just a few weeks ago, we’re still in the midst of a deadly pandemic and the threat to our residents remains very real. We will continue with current visitation and activity restrictions until further notice. This week, our hospital reported a high number of COVID-19 patients, but also that it still has a lot of remaining capacity to handle more cases or other health needs. We are indeed blessed to have such a great institution as our hospital and the many, many high-quality health care providers in our small county. We’re also blessed with a competent and sensible agency in the Reno County Health Department and its director, Karen Hammersmith. The health department has been accessible to us as a tireless resource and assisted us in policy development and mitigation efforts since early March.
This week at Wesley Towers, we conducted our second round of weekly surveillance (routine) testing and thankfully, had no positive results. We know this could change literally at any moment and we will continue to stay diligent in our efforts to keep the risk to our residents as minimal as possible.
Please continue to use good health practices and stay safe!
